The UAE has announced a phased return to in-person learning for nurseries, with reopening measures commencing this week. This decision, made by the Education, Human Resources and Community Development Council, aims to enhance educational opportunities for young children while ensuring the safety of families and staff.
Prioritising nurseries located in government buildings and commercial premises, authorities will allow them to reopen in phases. Meanwhile, other facilities providing home-based childcare services can continue to operate under regulated conditions. Detailed guidance on whether institutions will switch to remote learning or maintain in-person education will be communicated on April 15, 2026, through official channels, including the Ministry of Education.
Comprehensive training programmes for staff across nurseries, schools, and higher education institutions are being implemented to ensure readiness for this transition. Inspections by ministries and local education authorities will assess operational compliance and safety standards in preparation for the phased reopening.
This initiative follows directives aimed at reinforcing educational infrastructure and operational readiness across the UAE's educational landscape. The council has also introduced updated guidelines to facilitate transitions between in-person and remote learning, ensuring continuity of education amid any evolving circumstances
The gradual reopening of nurseries is particularly significant for parents navigating childcare options in the UAE. As educational institutions adapt to new norms, families can expect more structured learning environments that balance safety with educational needs.
